What to Bring & How Often

In the Child Welfare System, you are eligible to shop if you are:


1. A foster parent licensed with DHHS or a private agency,


2.    A Kinship or Relative Placement that was court-ordered into foster care under the care and supervision of DHHS. This does NOT include voluntary guardianship.


3. A parent who has adopted out of the foster system.


4. A current or former foster Youth currently in MYOI, Youth in Transition, Family Youth Interventions, or King House - Your caseworker must verify that you are in their program by emailing us at macombfostercloset@gmail.com 


The current and legal placement of a child is REQUIRED before you can shop.


Items are available for children in foster, adoptive, or kinship care.


BIOLOGICAL PARENTS with CPS involvement are NOT allowed to shop.

A photo ID and your placement papers are REQUIRED every time you shop. For adoptive parents, bring your court order PCA-321 Order of Adoption.


Detailed questions must be answered on our sign-up link above.


You must show that you have children in your care to shop. We do not keep placement papers on file. Please do NOT plan to shop without your paperwork.


You are eligible to shop every 3 months unless you take a new placement or need something that we previously didn't have. 


If you have shopped here before,  please bring your IKEA bag with you.

Emergency Placement

If you have taken an emergency placement and need items before our next open hours, we can help. Please send us a Facebook message or email and one of our Rapid Response volunteers will open just for you. Please have your placement paperwork showing that you just took a placement.


The current and legal placement of a child is required BEFORE you can shop.

Thanks to amazing individuals and partner organizations, we have:

Clothing: all sizes from newborn to adult

Baby stuff includes diapers, wipes, cribs, highchairs, quilts, blankets, baby bottles, baby monitors, formula, etc.

Socks, underwear, and pajamas

Coats, hats, and gloves

Shoes and winter boots

Toys and sports equipment

Birthday Party Bag program

Toiletries and household items

School supplies

Duffle bag and luggage

Twin beds and bedding

Christmas Stocking & Easter Basket

and much, much more!


Items vary based on current inventory.

Please tell all of your foster parents about the Macomb Foster Closet.


Caseworkers are welcome to shop for a foster parent although you are required to show your Agency ID and information for the child you are shopping for. 


We do not provide items for families going through the licensing process.


Items needed for reunification should be secured through the DHHS monitor.

Shopping is by appointment only and varies based on volunteer availability (don't worry, we have lots of options). Click on the link above and sign up today to shop.


While we have all seasons of clothing available year-round, at the end of August we bring out a larger selection of winter coats, hats, gloves, and boots.
